Why he might be annoying:

He was the first driver to compete with a Honda engine, the car was not competitive, he failed to qualify for the Indy 500 his first year using the engine.
He is balding.
He had little success helping to develop Jaguar's F-1 team.
He owns a chain of automobile dealerships in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Why he might not be annoying:

After his partnership dissolved with his team's co-owner, he found a new co-owner in David Letterman after Rahal appeared on Letterman's show.
He won the 1986 Indy 500 2 months after his team owner-passed away.
He has a degree from Denison University in Ohio.
He gave drivers like Buddy Rice, Vitor Meira and Danica Patrick big breaks in racing.
Even though his first experience with Honda engines where unsuccessful, he still fields cars powered by Honda.
Buddy Rice won the Indy 500 in the car Rahal and Letterman Owned after starting on the pole.
