    He invented the seed drill after becoming annoyed with his employees' failure to follow his planting instructions.
    His agricultural ideas were considered controversial and were not widely adopted for decades.
    He is remembered mainly for inspiring the name of a progressive rock band.

    He is considered one of the first proponents of a scientific approach to farming.
