She began performing in the Yiddish theater at age six and dropped out of high school to pursue it as a career.
At age 40, she played a twelve year old in 'Mamale.'
She started her career typecast as boys or girls disguised as boys and ended it typecast as Jewish mothers and yentas.

Why she might not be annoying:

The Second Avenue Theater in New York was renamed in her honor.
She was married to her frequent collaborator Jacob Kallich for 55 years until his death.
She entertained US soldiers during World War II and performed at displaced persons camps after the war.
After she told Helen Hayes 'People have called me the Helen Hayes of the Yiddish theater. I hope you don't mind,' Hayes replied, 'I would be proud to be called the Molly Picon of the American theater.'
