Why he might be annoying:

    He made the Mets depth roster in 1966, as he owed the team money in exchange for them wiring it to him to fix his car, in order to make it to their spring training camp.
    He received little to no recognition by mainstream media outlets, as a result of the Mets mediocre performances.
    He is remembered for being the pitcher that surrendered Pete Rose's 4,000th career hit.
    He never won an individual award, despite he fact he posted solid numbers.
    He was sentenced to six months in prison, after he pled guilty to tax evasion (2009).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was discovered by a son of a Shea Stadium worker, following his discharge from the military.
    He was considered one the cogs of the Miracle Mets pitching staff.
    He was the runner-up to Johnny Bench for the NL Rookie of the Year Award (1968).
    He is the third player in the history of the Mets franchise, and the first not to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame to have his number retired.
    He owned up to his arrest and incarceration, citing he got caught up in the anti-tax rhetoric, which caused him not to file his federal income taxes for a three year period between 2002 and 2004.
