The Resume

    (August 5, 1908-December 17, 1967)
Born in Stanmore, New South Wales, Australia
    Prime Minister of Australia (1966-67)
Disappeared while swimming and presumed drowned

Why he might be annoying:

His wife admitted that her twins from her first marriage had actually been fathered by Holt.
He was a workaholic who put in 16-hour days.
On taking office, he declared that Australia would not increase its involvement in the Vietnam War, but a month later he tripled the country's troop commitment.
He ignored advice from his doctor not to swim until a shoulder injury healed.
His disappearance inspired numerous rumors, including that he had committed suicide, he was murdered, he had been abducted by a UFO, or he was a Communist spy who had rendezvoused with a sub and been taken to China.
Ironically, a swimming pool complex in Melbourne was named after him.

Why he might not be annoying:

In college, he was president of the Sports Club, the Social Club and the Law Students' Society.
He was named one of Australia's six best-dressed men (1954).
He began breaking down the racist 'White Australia' policy by eliminating distinctions between European and Asian immigrants.
He established the Australian Council for the Arts.
The destroyer escort USS Harold E. Holt was the first American warship named after a foreign leader (1969).
