Football Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He played primarily as a reserve.
He was elevated to the starting position in college after junior Mark Brunell suffered a serious knee injury during spring drills, causing him to miss most of the 1991 season.
He would later be drafted sixty picks ahead of Brunell, but Mark would still go on to have the better overall career.
His college season was tainted when he was implicated in a major NCAA scandal after it was revealed he had received a series of loans totaling $50,000 made by 'the father-in-law of a friend.'
The scandal cost him his college eligibility, and was an aggravating factor in the university receiving Pacific-10 Conference sanctions for lack of institutional control (it also led coach Don James to resign).
He was in the running for starting quarterback after Jim Kelly's retirement - until he publicly admitted that he had spent more time with Playboy than the Buffalo playbook after a loss to New England. He was promptly released.
He had one last chance to redeem himself after Mike Ditka lured him to the Saints. But a season ending injury resulted in Ditka bringing in Billy Joe Tolliver to replace him.
While on the Colts roster for two years, he did not play a snap during the regular season.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had an honest and self-deprecating sense of humor.
He led the Huskies to a national championship in 1991, during his redshirt sophomore season.
He was scapegoated for the NCAA sanctions scandal and received death threats over it.
He received an offer from the White Sox in the 1993 MLB draft, but he opted to go with the NFL the same year.
He became a Born-Again Christian during the Saints pre-season camp in 1998.
His son attends University of Washington and plays wide receiver for the Huskies.
