Why Strictly Come Dancing might be annoying:

The title fused together ‘Come Dancing,’ a former ballroom dance competition show, with ‘Strictly Ballroom,’ Baz Luhrmann’s film about dance competitions.
The money viewers paid for telephone voting was originally donated to charity, but the practice ended after series 7.
The BBC was accused of ageism after replacing 66-year-old judge Arlene Phillips with 30-year-old Alesha Dixon (2009).
Several celebrity contestants were rumored to have had affairs with their dance partners, leading to the breakup of marriages and long-term partnerships.
The BBC initially rejected the idea of selling the show abroad, feeling it was too British. (Richard Hopkins, one of the producers, approached American TV networks on his own.)

Why Strictly Come Dancing might not be annoying:

In addition to the regular series, 19 charity specials have been produced (through the end of 2022).
It twice won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Entertainment Programme (2016, 2020).
It was named Most Popular Talent Show at the National Television Awards eight times (2008, 2013-14, 2016-2020).
It was recognized by Guinness World Records as the most successful reality TV format.
