Most of the turning points of his life are disputed.

He played in heavy pain during his later years.
He hit home runs that measured around 600 feet from home plate.
He made his negro league debut from the stands after a player was injured.
He died months before baseball became integrated.
He ranked #18 on The Sporting News' list of Baseball's 100 Greatest Players.
He ranked #73 on ESPN's Top 100 Athletes of the Century.
