Why she might be annoying
She was scandalized by illegal campaign loans and nondisclosure of tax returns.
Her husband was accused of shady land development deals involving organized crime.
She played the prejudice card, saying they were being unfairly targeted due to their Italian-American heritage.
The 1984 Democratic ticket was walloped in a landslide victory by the Reagan/Bush campaign, carrying only one state (Mondale's, not hers) and Washington, D.C.
She ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate (1992).
She has the same first name as Flip Wilson's female alter-ego persona.
Some dubbed her campaign with Walter 'Fritz' Mondale as 'Fritz and Tits' or 'Wally and the Beaver.'
Why she might not be annoying
Her father died when she was just eight years old.
She graduated Fordham University School of Law in 1960, one of only two women to do so.
When she worked for the Queens, New York District Attorney's office, she started the Special Victims Bureau.
She is an advocate for the elderly and fought cuts in Social Security and Medicare.
She sponsored the Women's Economic Equity Act in 1984, ending pension discrimination against women.
She is pro-choice.
She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame (1994).
She was diagnosed with malignant multiple myeloma (blood cancer, 1998).
