Manager for the St. Louis Cardinals (1952-55), Chicago White Sox (1966-68) and Texas Rangers (1977)
Lifetime batting average: .268
Three-time All Star (1947-48, 1950)

Why he might be annoying:

He was nicknamed 'The Brat.'
Phil Rizzuto said, 'He plays a snarling, dog-eat-dog kind of baseball.'
He was (in)famous for the 'Stanky Maneuver' in which he would take advantage of his position behind the pitcher by jumping up and down and waving his arms to distract the batter.
The Stanky Maneuver was banned after it triggered a bench-clearing brawl in a Giants-Phillies game.
As manager of the good-pitch, no-hit White Sox, he reportedly put baseballs in the freezer to stymie power hitters on visiting teams.
His stint as Rangers manager lasted a single game before he resigned.

Why he might not be annoying:

Leo Durocher said, 'He can't hit, can't run, can't field... All the little SOB can do is win.'
Despite a ho-hum batting average, he was so good at drawing walks that he twice led the league in on-base percentage (1946,1950).
When the Stanky Maneuver was banned, he said, 'I was just out there trying to help win a ballgame. If someone pulled that on me, I'd shake his hand -- and try to hit past him.'
He started the ninth-inning rally that culminated in Bobby Thomson's 'Shot Heard Round the World.'
