    He was married three times and divorced twice.
    His birth year was questioned by sources, with some sources citing 1927, while others cite 1928.
    He enjoyed writing poetry in his spare time.

    He left the Giants as the franchise's all-time leader in pass receptions, receiving yardage and touchdown receptions.
