Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

Despite being considered a Red Wings legend, he didn't get a lot of recognition for his accolades.
He was traded to the Wings biggest rivals, Chicago for nothing.
He got into the business side of Hockey through nepotism as he married the team's secretary to the general manager.
He pissed off the Red Wings front office during his stint as a broadcaster, by making blunt remarks about the state of the roster on air.
He earned his nickname 'Boot Nose' after he taunted Maurice Richard in a game, which prompted Richard to break his nose in retaliation.

Why he might not be annoying:

He, along with Ted Lindsay and Gordie Howe formed the famed 'Production Line'.
He won three Stanley Cups as a member of the Red Wings (1950, 1954, 1955).
He was one of the last people in NHL history to serve as both a player and head coach at the same time.
He was the father of former Red Wing forward Gerry Abel and the grandfather of former NHL goaltender Brent Johnson.
His honest analysis on the Red Wings during the 1970's and 1980's made him extremely popular amongst the team's fanbase.
