Why he might be annoying:

    So many people find the strip incomprehensible that the official Zippy web site has an 'Understanding Zippy in Six Easy Lessons' tutorial.
    He feuded with Dilbert creator Scott Adams.
    He said, 'Some people believe I'm stupid or possibly mentally retarded. I have no comment on this.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    Zippy is one of the few underground comics to achieve mainstream success.
    Zippy's catchphrase 'Are we having fun yet?' was added to Bartlett's Familiar Quotations.
    R. Crumb called Zippy 'by far the very best daily comic strip that exists in America.'
    He said one of his favorite comics is Bil Keane's Family Circus: 'The other really surreal strip on the comics page.'
