The Resume

    (December 6, 1965-April 6, 2022)
    Born in Montclair, New Jersey
Senior Fellow for the Media Matters
Author of 'Lapdogs: how the press rolled over for Bush' (2006) and ' Bloggers on the bus: how the internet changed politics and the press' (2009)
    Appeared regularly on MSNBC

Why he might be annoying:

His last name vaguely resembles Boebert.
He was mortal frenemies with Andrew Breitbart.
After a back and forth on Twitter, the two finally threw down on Good Morning America of all places - to hash it out over Breitbart's role in the Shirley Sherrod firing scandal.
Mediaite described the showdown as follows: 'Alas, the burden of unreasonable expectations about the head-to-head seemed to extinguish the flames of passion, as [both] were not only on their best behavior, but sadly, were also kind of ... well, boring.' (Civility? *Gasp!*).
As a head writer for Media Matters, his main - and, really, only - target was Fox News.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a 6’4 guard on his high school basketball team.
Before Media Matters, he was a Contributing Editor for Rolling Stone magazine.
He also helmed the PressRun Media newsletter and wrote for Billboard as a staff writer.
His love of John Mellencamp sparked his interest in music as a kid, leading to his later becoming a music critic.
When Pearl Jam filed an official complaint against Ticketmaster with the U.S. Justice Department in 1994, he followed up with a series of exclusive reports on corporate injustice in the music business, many of which landed on Billboard‘s front page.
As a writer for Salon, he won the 2002 American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' Deems Taylor Award for music journalism, for a series of 2001 exposes on the radio industry.
He died after being struck by a train in Montclair, New Jersey, while on a bike ride.
In addition to Media Matters (who called his passing 'a real loss for truth'), tributes poured in from the likes of Hillary Clinton and Jon Stewart.
