Entrepreneur

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He tried too hard to be the powerful figure in Canadian wrestling promotions.
He had a strained relationship with his business partner, Jim Crockett over how he promoted the wrestling cards at Maple Leaf Gardens.
He aligned himself with Vince McMahon and the WEF, after he opted to walk away from cross-promoting wrestling cards.
His allegiance with McMahon was credited with the downfall of Canadian wrestling promotions in the 1980's.
He had exclusive control over booking wrestling events at Maple Leaf Gardens, which prevented McMahon from booking shows at the venue, following his departure from WWF.
It was speculated his departure from WWF was a result of him using the company money to pay off his personal gambling debts.

Why he might not be annoying:

He initially got his start in wrestling as a referee, prior to working in the booking offices at Maple Leaf Wrestling.
He was considered one of the more influential figures in Canadian wrestling, outside of Stu Hart.
He, along with McMahon were credited with the rise in wrestling's mainstream popularity during the 'Hulkamania' years.
He was credited with making Toronto a major stop for the WWF in the years after he aligned with McMahon.
He introduced the tag team match concept to North American wrestling cards.
He served as the on-screen president for WWF programming for 11 years, prior to his departure from the company.
His on-screen character's role was seen as being neutral in disputes, which was a stark contrast to the heel role the commissioner character would play later on.
