World Leader

The Resume

    (January 11, 1815-June 6, 1891)
    Immigrated to Canada (1820)
Drafted the British North America Act, uniting four provinces of Canada (July 1, 1867)
First Prime Minister of Canada (1867-1873, 1878-1891)

Why he might be annoying:

He became a lawyer when he was only 15 years old.
His first term in office saw politicians lining their own pockets with railroad money in what would become known as the 'Pacific Scandal' (1873).
The scandal forced his government to resign.
He created a hypocritical political party called the Liberal-Conservatives.
His handling of a rebellion in part of the North-Western Territory was a failure, upsetting French-Canadians by executing its leader, Louis Riel.
His handling of French-Canadians created tensions between English-Canadians and French-Canadians that still exist to this day.
He initially was going to name the country the 'Kingdom of Canada' but backed down and gave it the official name the 'Dominion of Canada' out of fears that a 'kingdom' might alarm the United States.
He had a well-known drinking problem, and he would often drink during meetings and forget what happened during the day.
He once puked while intoxicated during a debate with an opposing official and then told the crowd, 'See how my opponent's ideas disgust me!'

Why he might not be annoying:

His goal as the Prime Minister was to unify Canada.
He started several public works to connect the country, including a transcontinental railroad.
He orchestrated the Canadian Confederacy in order to create a strong country against aggression from the United States.
He created Canada's first national park in Banff, Alberta (1885).
His second term in office lasted four consecutive elections and saw him die while in office.
He allied with his rival in order to unite the country of Canada.
He purchased the North-Western Territory from the Hudson's Bay Company for $11,500,000.
He created the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to enforce law in the vast country.
He helped create, through his ability to bargain and unite people, the second largest nation on Earth.
He is on the Canadian ten-dollar bill.
