Why he might be annoying:

He sported an enormous mustache during his playing career.
He had a reputation in Dallas of having good regular season teams that did poorly in the playoffs.
He frequently butted heads with Sean Avery during the latter's short stint with the team.
He had a falling out with the Stars upper management, which played a role in his dismissal.
He continued the Jets/Coyotes franchise trend of being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs during his first season at the helm.
He looks like an older version of McLovin'.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of two Canadian Olympic hockey teams (1984, 1992).
He got his break as an NHL head coach when he filled in for Andy Murray after Murray had to take time off from injuries sustained in a car accident (2002).
He guided the Stars to five consecutive playoff appearances during his first five seasons with the club.
He wisely listened to his players and ownership when they made the decision to ban Sean Avery from the team, following the infamous 'sloppy seconds' remark.
He accepted the Coyotes head coaching job on short notice after Wayne Gretzky stepped down during the 2009 bankruptcy hearings.
Despite taking the coaching job at the 11th hour, he guided the Coyotes to the franchise's best single season record and first playoff berth in eight years (2010).
