Why Montreal Shamrocks might be annoying:

They were initially spun off from a lacrosse team of the same name.
They alternated between being an amateur team and a professional team.
They sat out both the 1893-94 and 1910-11 seasons, due to a lack of talent.
They gradually faded into obscurity in the years following their loss in the 1901 Stanley Cup challenge.
They ceased operations after being financially unable to compete with other clubs for players.

Why Montreal Shamrocks might not be annoying:

They were one of the top amateur clubs in the country during their early years.
They merged with the Montreal Crystals, which was able to strengthen the club's competitiveness.
They won back to back Stanley Cup championships at the turn of the 20th century.
They were popular amongst Montreal's Irish-Catholic demographic.
