Why he might be annoying:

    His career began as a developer for Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, where he worked on consumer applications.
    He fabricated a story that eBay was founded for trading PEZ dispensers in order to gain media interest.
    The title eBay is a shortening of Echo Bay, his consulting firm.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He graduated in computer science from Tufts University.
    In a matter of 3 years of starting eBay, he went from being a long-haired programmer to a billionaire.
    After eBay's success in 1998, he co-founded the Omidyar Foundation to fund non profits.
    He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Tufts University and Santa Fe Institute.
    He does not let his vast wealth get to his head.
    He is a full-time philanthropist, donating much of his profits to various charities and services, hoping to 'better the world.'
