Why he might be annoying:

    He played on six different teams.
    He was suspended numerous times during his career for drug abuse.
    He felt Royals GM John Schuerholz had blackballed him from the majors, and purchased a firearm with the intent of killing Schuerholz.
    He was notorious for making bad plays in the outfield.
    He made a baserunning error in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series that kept him from scoring what would have been the winning run; instead the Minnesota Twins won in the 10th inning.
    He is divorced and remarried.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a member of three World Series championship teams.
    He finished third in National League Rookie of the Year voting (1980).
    Despite his animosity toward John Schuerholz, he was able to co-exist with the latter during their three seasons together in Atlanta.
    He stole five bases in a single game, setting a franchise record with the Cardinals (September 4, 1982).
    He re-established himself as an everyday player when he signed with Atlanta.
