Monarch

The Resume

    (circa 911-circa 985)
Also known as Harald Gormsson and King Harald I
King of Denmark (ca. 958-ca. 985) and Norway (ca. 971-ca. 985)

Why he might be annoying:

He got his nickname from a conspicuous bad tooth.
According to Norse sagas, he twice had to submit to Swedish Prince Styrbjorn the Strong -- the first time giving Styrbjorn a fleet and the hand of his daughter Thyra in marriage, the second time giving another fleet and becoming his hostage.
Although he nominally remained King of Norway, it effectively was ruled independently by Haakon Sigurdson after 977.
He was overthrown in a rebellion led by his son, Sven Forkbeard, and died shortly after.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was credited with converting Denmark to Christianity.
He introduced uniform coinage to Denmark.
He was the namesake for Bluetooth wireless (1997), based on the analogy that Bluetooth technology would unite communication devices just like Harald united Danish tribes into a kingdom.
