The Resume

    (January 27, 1960- )
    One NFL championship (1969)
    No Super Bowl championships
    Six retired numbers: Fran Tarkenton's #10, Mick Tingelhoff's #53, Jim Marshall's #70, Korey Stringer's #77, Cris Carter's #80 and Alan Page's #88

Why they might be annoying:

They lost four Super Bowls (IV, VIII, IX, XI).
    They are perennial play-off chokers.
Though they once had one of the toughest defenses in the league, today their D is one of the worst in the league.
Vikings defensive lineman Jim Marshall once recovered a fumble and ran 66 yards the wrong way for the longest safety in NFL history (October 25, 1964).
    They gave up Tony Dorsett's NFL-record 99-yard touchdown run (January 3, 1983)
Vikings place kicker Gary Anderson missed a field goal in the 1998 NFC Championship Game, after not missing a single field goal attempt during the regular season. They went on to lose to the Atlanta Falcons 30-27 (OT).
They lost the 2001 NFC Championship Game to the New York Giants 41-0.
They gave up Michael Vick's single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback (173 yards, December 1, 2002).
For two straight years (2002-03), they didn't announce their first round pick on time during the NFL Draft.
Sports Illustrated once called the Vikings 'The Most Underrated Hopeless Obsession' in sports.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are one of only two NFL expansion teams to win their inaugural regular-season game (37-13 vs. Chicago Bears).
They have great - if not underrated - rivalries with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
They have always had an explosive offense.
Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton once held nearly every major career passing record.
Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp tied an NFL record when he threw seven touchdown passes in a single game (September 28, 1969).
Joe Kapp refused to accept the 1969 NFL MVP Award, saying that the entire team were the 'Most Valuable Players.'
Vikings defensive lineman Alan Page was the first defensive player to be named NFL MVP (1971).
Vikings safety Paul Krause holds the NFL career interception record (81).
Jim Marshall played in an NFL-record 282 consecutive games (1960-1979) and a single-team record 270 consecutive games (1961-1979).
Viking wide receiver Cris Carter caught a then-NFL single-season record 122 passes in 1994.
They scored an NFL single-season team record 556 points in 1998.
Vikings offensive lineman Korey Stringer collapsed and died during training camp (August 1, 2001).
They have four Hall-of-Fame players, one Hall-of-Fame coach (Bud Grant) and one Hall-of-Fame executive (Jim Finks)
