    Switched from the Green Party to the Democratic Party (2004)

Why she might be annoying:

    She claimed that during her childhood, her family went without electricity or running water for two years; her mother and stepfather have produced documents showing that they were paying utility bills during the relevant time period.
    She distributed anti-war flyers depicting an American soldier as a skeleton inflicting ‘U.S. terror’ in the Middle East.
    She co-hosted an Air America radio show with a 9-11 ‘truther.’ (2005-06)
    During a discussion of ‘the new feminism,’ she said, ‘'These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they're choosing to live that life. That's bullshit.’ (She later claimed the interview was ‘a light-hearted spoof.’)

    She graduated high school as valedictorian at age sixteen.
    She earned a BA from Brigham Young University at age eighteen.
    When a Republican member of the state legislature insulted LGBT people, she responded, ‘'We're simply people like everyone else who want and deserve respect.' (2005)
    When reporters asked about her use of ‘we,’ she replied, ‘Duh, I’m bisexual.’
    She was named one of Time magazine’s ’40 Under 40.’ (2010)
    She joined the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus in the House.
    She completed an Ironman triathlon (2013).
    A New York man was arrested for stalking her (2018).
    She was the first openly bisexual member of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
