    Born in Cranston, Rhode Island
Drafted 13th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft
Assistant coach for the men's hockey team at Northeastern University (1993-96), University of Nebraska–Omaha (1999-2002) and the Colorado Avalanche (2012-13)

Why he might be annoying:

He never reached the NHL as a player, despite being a first round pick.
His lone playoff appearance with the Rangers was out of dumb luck, due to the expanded playoff structure.
That playoff appearance was remembered for his team getting swept in the qualifying round.
His approach to player communication was considered inconsistent.
He was rumored to have been fired, due to James Dolan's desire to have playoff berths, rather then develop a homegrown core.
He was described as being a pretty boy by the New York media, following his hiring with the Rangers.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was forced to retire from active play after being diagnosed with Hemophilia B.
He helped build the hockey program at the University of Nebraska-Omaha from scratch.
He served as an assistant to Jack Parker at Boston University, and served as his successor for the head coaching position.
His success at BU got the attention of the Rangers, who felt he was the ideal coach for the team's rebuild.
He was described as being an excellent communicator by hockey pundits.
