Why he might be annoying:

He is described as having 'the manners of a football hooligan.'
He has a drinking problem.
He is a chain smoker.
He was photographed by a school girl, urinating on a Turkish pavilion in 2000, which angered the Turks.
He made threatening phone calls to Bild, the German paper that published the photograph.
He has been arrested and fined for beating up photographers.
He beat up a German club owner in Kenya (January 2000).
He was fined £443,200 pounds for that drunken assault in Kenya in 2000 (November 25, 2004).
Legally, he is not a prince, as the kingdom of Hanover ceased to exist in 1848.
He was fooling around with Princess Caroline of Monaco when he was still married to someone else.
Other German aristocrats are embarrassed by his behavior.
He gave his then future stepson, Andrea Casiraghi, a motorcycle for his 13th birthday (1997).

Why he might not be annoying:

Princess Grace thought he might be a good match for Caroline (of course, this was around 1980).
He is a distant cousin of Queen Elizabeth II of England.
He would be King of Hanover if the kingdom still existed.
The royal house of Hanover is one of the oldest in Europe.
