The Resume

    (December 7, 1919-January 16, 2022)
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
    Middle name was Edward
    Fighter pilot
    Flew 409 combat missions
Served with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II

Why he might be annoying:

He named his P-51 Mustang plane 'Kitten.'
He was shamelessly used as a prop during President Trump's final State of the Union address.
He and his fellow Tuskegee Airmen opposed the Washington Redskins changing their name to the Washington Red Tails in their honor because they weren't keen on becoming NFL mascots. (So we get stuck with The Commanders instead!)

Why he might not be annoying:

He achieved the highest number of combat missions held by any Air Force fighter pilot.
He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters and the Bronze Star Medal, along with many other military honors.
He was among the first African-American military aviators and one of the last living members of the Tuskegee Airmen.
As a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, he received the Congressional Gold Medal from President George W. Bush in 2007.

He was a consultant for in 2012 for George Lucas' 'Red Tails' World War II movie.
He presented the coin for the coin flip at the Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl (February 2, 2020).
