Why he might be annoying:

As a graduate assistant at Gonzaga, John Stockton dogged and embarrassed him in practice.
As is the case with so many coaches, he told his players he wasn't leaving Pitt.
Like it or not, he will ultimately be compared to The Wizard of Westwood, and will inevitably fall short.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has returned the luster to UCLA basketball.
He is a premier recruiter.
His teams always play defense.
He wanted to be a coach since he was a teenager.
He has taken three schools to the NCAA tournament.
When he said coaching UCLA was a 'dream come true,' he really meant it.
He is from Southern California, and appreciates the history and stature of UCLA basketball.
