Why he might be annoying:

He noted about high school, 'I finished so far down in my class that no university in the country would accept me.'
He worked as a Hollywood publicist for two decades, which he hated so much he developed bleeding ulcers.
He hinted that Ted Kennedy used his influence to keep the film version of 'Winter Kills' (which was inspired by the JFK assassination) from getting a wide release.
He objected to director John Huston casting Jack Nicholson as the lead in the film version of 'Prizzi's Honor.'
After the film came out, he admitted, 'Never ask a writer for advice in casting. Nicholson was wonderful.'
After his death, a computer analysis found that at least two paragraphs of 'The Manchurian Candidate' had been plagiarized from Robert Graves' 'I, Claudius.' (2003)

He was married to Evelyn Hunt for 58 years.
'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'Prizzi's Honor' were adapted into critically acclaimed movies.
He was nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the screenplay of 'Prizzi's Honor.'
He said, 'Every book I've ever written has been about abuse of power.... I'd like people to know how deeply their politicians wrong them.'
Critic Louis Menard wrote, 'Condon was a cynic of the upbeat type, not unlike Tom Wolfe: his belief that everything is basically shit did not get in the way of his pleasure in making fun of it.'
