The Resume

    (August 1, 1932-November 5, 1990)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Birth name was Martin David Kahane
    Orthodox Jewish rabbi
Founded the Jewish Defense League (1968)
    Emigrated to Israel (1971)
Founded the political party Kach (1971)
Elected to the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset (1984-88)

Why he might be annoying:

He had an extramarital affair with a gentile woman who jumped off the 59th Street Bridge to her death when he ended the relationship.
In the Knesset, he tried to pass a law banning Jewish-gentile marriages and sexual relationships.
He favored replacing democracy in Israel with a state based on Jewish religious law.
He was boycotted by other members of the Knesset and gave most of his parliamentary speeches to an empty chamber.
He encouraged retaliatory violence against Arabs: 'They must understand that a bomb thrown at a Jewish bus is going to mean a bomb thrown against an Arab bus.'
Baruch Goldstein, the perpetrator of the Tomb of the Patriarchs massacre, was one of his followers.
Kach was declared a terrorist organization by the US State Department (1994).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an advocate for the emigration rights of Soviet Jewish refuseniks.
Kach was poised to become Israel's third-largest political party until the Knesset passed a law banning 'racist' and 'undemocratic' candidates from running for office (1985).
His suspected assassin was found not guilty of murder, a verdict that the judge said 'was against the overwhelming weight of evidence and was devoid of common sense and logic.'
His son Binyamin was killed returning from a West Bank settlement when Palestinian gunmen fired 60 rounds of machine gun fire into his van (December 31, 2000).
