    Her husband supported racial segregation.
    She made Mr. Blackwell’s Worst Dressed List.
    Her husband was Governor right before her.
    She refused to serve alcohol at official functions.
    She filed for divorce, but later decided against it.
    She ran for Governor despite in 1967 despite battling cancer since 1961.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was the first female governor to die in office.
    She passed away from uterine cancer.
    Like most women at the time, her husband was told about her cancer, but not her.
    The Wallace Tumor Institute was named in her honor.
