He earned the nickname 'Captain Scarlet' due to his striking resemblance to the science fiction character.
World News Tonight's rating dropped when he and Elizabeth Vargas were named the new co-anchors.
He's been accused (like his co-anchor) of having a liberal bias.

Why he might not be annoying:

He along with Elizabeth Vargas were named co-anchors on ABC to replace the late Peter Jennings.
He's fluent in Chinese and worked as a translator for CBS News during the Tiananmen Square uprising.
He got his B.A. from Colgate and his law degree from the University of Michigan.
He was seriously injured by a road-side bomb while on his way to meet the troops in Iraq (January 29, 2006).
