Why he might be annoying:

He chose an extremely dangerous hobby, despite having a wife and daughter.
He was superstitious and believed in psychics.
He considered the colour green unlucky and even requested his project manager Evan Green be referred to as Evan Turquoise.
He carried a teddy bear called 'Mr Whoppit' as a race mascot.
His death has been put down to two factors, both placing him at fault.

Why he might not be annoying:

He set seven world water speed records between 1955 and 1964.
He named all his vehicles 'Bluebird' in honor of his father's speed boat.
He was a loving father and husband.
He was very patriotic and painted the Union Jack on all of his vehicles.
His body lay undiscovered at the bottom of a lake for 34 years until recovered by diver Bill Smith.
