Why he might be annoying:

He was married four times, divorced three times.
Before 'My Man Godfrey,' he was typecast as sinister foreigners; after, he was typecast in comedic 'mad Russian' roles.
The 'movie highlights' section of his AllMovies page shows 'Casablanca' -- a film he did not appear in. (We suspect they confused him with the pickpocket played by Curt Bois.)

Why he might not be annoying:

His father was an officer in the Imperial Navy who died in the Russo-Japanese War when Mischa was an infant.
During the Russian Revolution, he was separated from his mother and lived on the streets with other homeless youths.
Shortly after he reunited with his mother, she died of typhus contracted from patients she nursed (1920).
He knew six languages: Russian, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
