Why he might be annoying:

    He noted that growing up he wore so much makeup he looked ‘like a geisha.’
    When he auditioned for the Royal Ballet School, he was told he was ‘both physically and temperamentally unsuited to the career of a dancer.’
    Before his breakthrough with ‘Flowers,’ he often performed at men’s clubs ‘between striptease acts and wrestling bouts.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    When he was two, his father was lost at sea.
    He taught dance and mime to David Bowie and Kate Bush.
    He choreographed and appeared in Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust concerts.
    Kate Bush wrote the song ‘Moving’ about him.
