    Assistant coach for the football teams at the University of Hawaii (1951), Whittier College (1952), University of Iowa (1954-60) and the Green Bay Packers (1966-67)
    Offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings (1968-85)
    Head coach for the Minnesota Vikings (1986-91)

Why he might be annoying:

    He never played in the professional ranks.
    He was rumored to have been forced out of the Iowa head coaching job by the school's athletic director Forest Evashevski.
    It was speculated Evashevski implemented harsh rules in order to force him out of the job.
    His tenure as the Vikings head coach was remembered for having decent regular seasons, but flamed out quickly in the playoffs.
    He went on a profane fueled tirade in a press conference defending his offensive coordinator (November 5, 1989).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a versatile coach, as he served as the head coach for three teams in three different sports.
    He handled his firing at Iowa with grace, wishing the school nothing but success on his way out.
    He earned two Super Bowl rings as a member of Vince Lombardi's coaching staff (1966, 1967).
    He served as Bud Grant's longtime offensive coordinator for the better part of two decades with the Vikings.
    He guided the Vikings to three playoff berths and a division title in his six years as the team's head coach.
