Test debut February 4, 1990 against the West Indies
Last ODI was March 2, 2003 against Australia

Signed on as a commentator with Sky News Sports following his retirement, in 2004
Awarded the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire on December 31, 2001

Why he might be annoying:

    He's a Vladimir Putin lookalike.
His last name is very frequently misspelled.
He claimed to having been pushed into the Cricket sport by his perfectionist father.
He was extremely unpopular with UK Cricket fans during his run as Captain.
He attained more success as a sports commentator than a Cricketer.
His early career prospects were damaged by his hot temper.
He even admitted to being billed for damages by the Pakistan Cricket Board after putting his foot through a fridge during one of his infamous 'locker room tantrums.'
He was booed standing on the pavilion balcony following the UK's series loss to New Zealand (incidentally his debut as Captain).
His reaching the coveted 'century' during the final match against India at the NatWest Series was overshadowed by rival Sourav Ganguly's ripping off his shirt and brandishing it in the air.
He liked to respond to media box criticism about his performance by holding up three fingers and gesturing to the ODI #3 on the back of his shirt (that got him labelled a narcissist).
He took most of the blame for England's failure to qualify for the second round of the 2003 World Cup, after opting out of playing against Zimbabwe due to security concerns. The severe blowback resulted in his resigning as Captain.
He made a tone deaf remark, in 2001, bragging about being assimilated and wondering why so many Asian Brits had to root for their countries of origin, because 'following England has got to be the way' (the backlash was predictably fierce).

Why he might not be annoying:

    His nickname is 'Insane Hussain.'
He came from a mixed-family; his father was an Indian Muslim doctor, but his mother was an Englishwoman.
His father uprooted the family when he was five, intent on having Nasser benefit from the British education system.
He made history as the first Indian-born captain of the English Cricket team.
Simon Barnes called him 'the most significant cricketer to have played for England since the war and perhaps the finest captain to hold the office.'
He holds one of the best Test records as in the history of UK (with the 4th most Test victories as England's captain - at 17).
It is widely believed that his arm was twisted when it came to passing on the 2003 World Cup (likely made the scapegoat by the owners).
He spoke Hindi for a small cameo in the 2011 Bollywood film, 'Patiala House,' in which he played himself.
For such a 'sellout' to his country of origin, he sure likes MS Dhoni a lot, calling him the 'greatest of all time' (something wrong with Ricky Ponting, pal?)
He set a Guinness World Record for the highest catch of a cricket ball from 150ft, during a Sky News Sports special (2016).
He is referenced in the Indie-classic 'Bend it Like Beckham' ('But Nasser Hussain is captain of the Cricket team and HE'S Asian!' 'Hussain is a Muslim name. They're different!')
