    He gutted the Expos of their star players, which many baseball pundits felt began the franchise's slow and painful death.
    He brashly called himself 'the new sherriff in town' at his introductury press conference upon being hired as the Dodgers general manager.
    His abrasive nature rubbed many Dodgers staff and players the wrong way.
    His Dodger teams were remembered for not living up to expectations, despite the fact they had a bastion of superstar talent and one of the highest payrolls in the league.
    He resigned after it was revealed he attacked a Padres fan in the stands, when the fan was heckling Gary Sheffield (April 2001).

    He worked in baseball on various capacities for over 20 years, prior to his unceremonious exit.
    He earned a World Series ring as a member of the Twins front office staff (1991).
    He admitted he was ordered to trade and release the Expos star players in a four day window, which contributed to his decision to resign at the end of the season (1995).
    He was credited with being the first general manager to offer a $100 million contract, when Kevin Brown signed with the Dodgers.
    He resigned from the Dodgers five days after the altercation, citing he didn't want to serve as a distraction to the team.
    He became an advocate for child sex trafficking prevention in the years following his exit from baseball.
