Actor
    (January 29, 1947-June 3, 2021)
    Born in Baltimore, Maryland
Birth name was Ernest Brown, Jr.
Appeared in the films ‘Secret Admirer’ (1985), ‘Turner and Hooch’ (1989), ‘Showdown in Little Tokyo’ (1991), ‘Passenger 57’ (1992), ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ (2005), ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2’ (2008), and ‘Looking Glass’ (2018)
Appeared in episodes of ‘The Waltons,’ ‘The Dukes of Hazard,’ ‘The X Files,’ ‘Murder She Wrote,’ ‘That 70s Show,’ ‘The West Wing,’ and ‘Saving Grace’
Father of Blake and Eric Lively
Stepfather of Robyn, Jason, and Lori Lively
In his early roles, he went by his birth name.
He changed his name after marrying talent agent Elaine Lively – but he did not take her maiden name, so he ended up using her ex-husband’s last name.
He and his first wife had decided to name their child ‘Blake’ if they had a son and ‘Blakely’ if they had a daughter; the baby was a girl, but they went with Blake anyway. (And apparently started a family trend, as Blake and husband Ryan Reynolds decided to name their oldest daughter ‘James.’)
In the ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ movies, he portrayed the father of the character played by his daughter Blake.
He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, rising from lieutenant to captain.
He was an acting coach for Jason Priestley, Casper Van Dien, Allyson Hannigan, and Kristy Swanson. (Plus, his kids.)
He was the first patient to undergo ‘retrograde heart therapy,’ in which his own stem cells were injected into his heart to repair damaged muscle (2013).
