    Little is known about his life.
    His proof for a special case of Fermat’s last theorem was wrong.
    He was better at constructing mathematical devices than proposing mathematical theorems and laws.

    He built the first mural sextant (994).
    He may have discovered the law of sines.
    There is a bust of him in Khujand, Tajikistan.
