The Resume

    (September 17, 1933- )
    Born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania
    Birth name was Patricia Crowley
Portrayed Joan Nash on NBC's 'Please Don't Eat the Daisies' (1965-67)
Acted in 'Forever Female,' 'Money from Home (both 1953),' 'Red Garters (1954),' 'There's Always Tomorrow,' 'The Square Jungle (both 1955),' 'Hollywood Bound' 'Walk the Proud Land (both 1956),' 'Key Witness (1960),' 'The Wheeler Dealers (1963)'

Why she might be annoying:

She was a poor man's Doris Day.
She is regularly confused with Kathleen Crowley (no relation).
Although appearance wise, she is more a dead ringer for Cyd Charisse.
She did a cheesy guest appearance on Roseanne accompanied by other famed TV moms of the 50's and 60's in which she incredulously asks the star: 'They named the show after you?! I didn't know they could do that!'

Why she might not be annoying:

She won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year - Actress in 1954.
She successfully transitioned her career from movies into television.
Her 'Please Don't Eat the Daisies' character is usually grouped with stepford moms like Margaret Anderson or Harriet Nelson but Joan Nash had a career as a lifestyle columnist on the show.
She became a staple on the soap opera circuit for her roles on Generations (from 1989–90), Port Charles (from 1997-2003), and The Bold and the Beautiful in 2005.
She became known to a later generation of television viewers as Rachel's boyfriend's mom on Friends in the episode where she ends up wearing her nightie to dinner.
She and her husband were among the passengers on a Los Angeles-to-Honolulu flight on which a passenger began acting erratically and threatening other passengers. He had to be restrained with plastic handcuffs; her husband was one of the passengers who helped restrain him (December 2005).
