He was one of the most influential punk rock guitarists and he is known as one of the first punk rock guitar heroes.
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Kim Thayil formerly of Soundgarden and Slash are all influenced by him.
He was almost killed when he got into a fight with Seth Macklin of the band Sub Zero Construction, Johnny was kicked in the head and suffered major injuries and needed brain surgery.
Him and Joey Ramone were the only original Ramones left in the band.
