Why Alert, Nunavut might be annoying:

It is extremely isolated from the rest of the country.
It has no permanent residents, as the community's population are associated with the Canadian Forces.
It has extremely cold winters due to its location north of the Arctic Circle.
It was the site of a plane crash that killed nine members of the R.C.A.F. squad, as they were dropping off supplies to the base (July 30, 1950).
Its intense snowstorms make it difficult to land aircrafts, therefore making travel difficult.

Why Alert, Nunavut might not be annoying:

It is the northernmost settlement in both the Canadian and North American territories.
It is located 518 miles from the North Pole.
It is home to an Environment Canada weather station, and served as the primary hub for meterologists in both Canada and the United States until 1970.
It was originally part of the Northwest Territories, prior to the boundary redrawing that saw it become part of Nunavut.
It was one of the stops for the torch relay for the 2007 Canada Winter Games, which were held in Whitehorse, Yukon.
