Why he might be annoying:

    His balding hairline makes him look older then he actually is.
    He never played professional hockey.
    He named his son after himself.
    His teams at Michigan State were notoriously inconsistent.
    Despite his accolades in NCAA hockey, his college coaching career accomplishments were overshadowed by those of Jerry York and Jack Parker's.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is considered an icon in Michigan college hockey.
    He was the first head coach in the history of the Northern Michigan men's hockey program.
    He is the third person in NCAA men's hockey to guide two different programs to the national championship.
    He turned down coaching offers at more recognized schools outside of Michigan in order to maintain structure for his family.
    He is the fifth coach in NCAA men's hockey history to win over 700 career games.
