    Its origins are hard to pinpoint, which some sources listing the city was named after the community of Braunschweig, Germany, while others say it was after King George II of Great Britain.

    It serves as both an economic hub for the central region of New Jersey, along with being a commuter town for residents who work in New York City.
    It is located along the Ratiran River, which is considered one of longest running bodies of water within the state.

    It is a major center for arts, sciences and cultural activities in the state.
