The Resume

    (June 27, 1969- )
    Birth name is Heather Manchin
    Mylan CEO (2012 - )
Daughter of Senator Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia)
Became the center of controversy after Mylan's raising the price of their product, the EpiPen, between 400-600 percent, over a nine year period

Why she might be annoying:

Her then-State Senator father got her a job as a quality control clerk at Mylan, back in '92.
As her dad's political influence grew, her rise within company leadership exponentially became that much easier.
She was revealed to have lied on her resume about earning an MBA from WVU (2007).
In the fallout, University leadership awarded her an honorary degree (when it was revealed that the University president was a family friend and former Mylan consultant, he resigned in disgrace).
While serving as Chief Operating Officer, she oversaw the Merck KGaA merger deal, in the process securing the rights to the nearly 50-year old EpiPen (2007).
She marketed the product heavily as the only major treatment for people experiencing anaphylaxis, privately calling the campaign 'her baby.'
While they established a monopoly over the market, the price for a pack of two EpiPens skyrocketed from $100 to $600.
Over the same period, annual sales went from $200 Million (at the time of the merger) to $1.5 Billion, making up the bulk of the company's profit share (Bresch's compensation also increased dramatically over the same period - by some 600 percent).
She was uncooperative during her testimony to the House Oversight Committee, attempting to shirk the blame for the price increase onto the health insurance laws and pharmaceutical companies (Sept. 26, 2016).
She tried arguing that Mylan hadn't profited greatly from the EpiPen price hike. When pressed on the claim, she shot back 'I am running a business to make money' (never mind all the time you spent talking up how your product stood to benefit children's health).

Why she might not be annoying:

She started out as a quality-control clerk in the Mylan basement.
She was named one of Fortune Magazine's 50 Most Powerful Women In Business (2014).
She pushed for further regulation of the Food and Drug Administration (specifically facilities abroad), using her influence to push the FDA Safety and Innovation Act.
She was recognized in Esquire's 'Patriots of the Year' listing for her work with the FDA, in 2011.
Regardless of intent, her advocacy DID make it possible for schools to four free EpiPens handy for emergencies (which has to count for something..)
In the wake of the EpiPen scandal, an image began circulating online which appeared to tie her to Hillary Clinton reading: 'Hi! I'm Heather Dresch [their spelling], CEO of the company that makes EpiPens. I raised the price from 5 bucks to over $300. Oh yeah, I'm also a huge Clinton Foundation donor. You're welcome America!'
The meme has been determined mostly false. Although Mylan's website lists her as having donated up to $250K to the Clinton Foundation, she is not listed as a 'major donor.'
