Why he might be annoying:

    His last name is hard to pronounce.
    He went by Ben, despite the fact his name was actually Floyd Burdette.
    He had a 2-5 record in bowl games.
    He was considered extremely quiet and reserved by his peers.
    The joke at Syracuse was that the school's alumni wanted a big-name coach hired, but got a long-name coach instead.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served for the United States Army in World War II, and was part of the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
    He was awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, four battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation for his efforts.
    He guided Syracuse to an NCAA national championship over the University of Texas (1959).
    He was one of the first coaches to put an emphasis on recruiting and developing African-American players at a time when many major colleges refused to do so.
    He coached the likes of Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little, Jim Nance and Larry Csonka at Syracuse.
