The Resume

    (1955- )
    Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
    Danny Rapp (May 9, 1941-April 5, 1983), lead vocals
    Dave White (November 26, 1939-March 16, 2019), first tenor
    Joe Terry (January 30, 1941-April 15, 2019), baritone
    Frank Maffel, second tenor
Recorded the singles ‘At the Hop’ (1957), ‘Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay’ (1958), and ‘Twistin’ U.S.A.’ (1960)

Why they might be annoying:

Their record was originally ‘Do the Bop’ by the Juvenaires, but Dick Clark convinced them to change their name to the Juniors and to revamp the song lyrics to ‘At the Hop.’
They re-recorded both ‘At the Hop’ and ‘Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay’ multiple times for different record labels.
During the late 1970s and early ‘80s, Rapp and the team of Terry and Maffel led rival versions of the Juniors on the oldies circuit.
Rapp committed suicide in a hotel room at the end of a tour.

Why they might not be annoying:

‘At the Hop’ was a number one hit on Billboard’s pop and R&B charts.
They had to give up half the publishing rights on ‘At the Hop’ to Dick Clark to get him to play the song on American Bandstand.
In addition to co-writing the Danny and the Juniors hits, White would co-write Lesley Gore’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’ and Len Barry’s ‘1-2-3.’
They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (2003).
