    His career ended prematurely as a result of a back injury.
    He divorced his first wife in order to marry Jamie Sale, whom he paired up with on 'Battle of the Blades.'
    He holds a bias towards the Oilers when he does play by play during the team's games.
    Some hockey pundits feel his success with the Oilers was a result of playing on an all-star caliber roster which saw many average players have their game elevated.
    He frequently appears in commercials for the Carpet Superstore chain.

    He was the second player drafted behind Wendel Clark in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft.
    He was the key player the Oilers received in the trade that sent Paul Coffey to Pittsburgh.
    He won two Stanley Cups as a member of the Oilers (1988, 1990).
    He and Jim Hughson are the first broadcasting tandem to call two games in the same day, as the pair broadcasted a matinee game in Denver on Hockey Night in Canada and broadcasted the late game in Calgary that same night.
    He holds the NHL records for best career shooting percentage in the regular season and playoffs.
