Why he might be annoying
Mayberry fans failed to accept his Warren Ferguson as a replacement for Don Knotts’ Barney Fife and he was written out of the series before a full season passed.
On ‘Fridays,’ he and Michael Richards staged an on-air fight with Andy Kaufman.
He was the voice of one of the Crash Test Dummies (specifically, Vince).
Why he might not be annoying
He served in the Marines during the Korean War.
He and George Carlin were partners early in their careers (1958-62).
He was head writer for the first season of The Muppet Show and co-wrote ‘The Muppet Movie.’
Simpsons producer/writer Mike Scully called him ‘a personal comedy idol of mine’ and ‘still one of the funniest men alive today.’
