Why The Cosby Show might be annoying:

    Phylicia Rashad.
It was Bill Cosby's fourth attempt at a sitcom.
It featured many episodes where the characters lip sync to old jazz music.
Like many sitcoms, it started showing its age once the cute younger characters started hitting puberty.
It was so important to NBC that they bumped a game in the World Series back a half an hour to show an episode (1984).
It seemed like everyone of the family's older relatives were portrayed by legendary jazz musician.
It started losing ground in the ratings when 'The Simpsons' directly competed against it.
While Phylicia Rashad was pregnant, they hid her pregnancy by making her wear large shirts or having her stand or sit behind an object.
It created the miserable spin-off, 'A Different World.'
There were complaints the show did not accurately depict the average African American family.
It was preachy, often exploring 'important' issues at the expense of its entertainment value.
Each episode started off with a cheesy dance number that included Cosby flashing a goofy smile.

Why The Cosby Show might not be annoying:

The network execs thought the Cosby Show would never last against 'Magnum P.I.' (a popular CBS show) in its time slot when it was on Thursday night.
It eventually became the #1 show on television and achieved higher ratings than Magnum on a regular basis.
It revived the situation comedy at a time when action dramas and prime-time soaps all but killed most of them in the ratings.
Bill Cosby had full creative control of the series, and the show made him a star.
It started NBC's stronghold of 'Must See TV' on Thursday nights.
It was filmed in New York rather than Hollywood on Cosby's insistence.
Cliff Huxtable was rated #1 by TV Guide in its list of the '50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time' (June 20, 2004).
It featured African Americans in a positive, upper-middle class setting and avoided racial humor.
